Wheaton neighborhoods each have distinct characteristics. The area around downtown and the Wheaton College campus features some of the city's oldest and most architecturally significant homes, substantial structures from the late 1800s through 1920s with multiple stories, formal front stairs and service back stairs, and often third-floor finished spaces with steep attic access.
